The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo says the federal government programmes in the Northeast is yielding results as the beneficiaries are coming out to testify the impact in their lives.
Prof Osinbajo stated this in his opening remark on Tuesday in Yola as part of activities to launch the Northeast Innovation hub, among other projects.
He said the humanitarian intervention was aimed at bringing succour and hope to the people of the region. The idea was to provoke tech-based innovative programmes to tackle the challenges of IDPs in the states affected by the insurgency.
According to one of the beneficiaries of GEEP, the micro-credit scheme of Social Investment Programme, SIP,”This is the first time any government has actively considered the welfare of the poor people,”.
The Vice president said more innovation hubs & centres would be opened across the country including in 6 universities.
Prof Yemi Osinbajo also participated in a Town Hall meeting on the progress of the National Social Investment Programmes in Adamawa State with beneficiaries of the different schemes including Npower in attendance.
He noted that President Buhari”s administration remain committed to SIP programme to reducing poverty and unemployment in the region.
He maintained that selection of beneficiaries for the schemes are transparent and open without “man-know-man.”
The Vice president said more Npower beneficiaries are being added and more micro-credit loans would be made available for beneficiaries.
He added that the Homegrown School Feeding programme would be kicking off in the State very soon.
