Police launch manhunt to rescue Siasia’s mother

The Police in Bayelsa State say they have launched manhunt for the suspected kidnappers of the mother of Former Super Eagles Coach and player, Samson Siasia.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent said the unknown gunmen who were heavily armed came through the waterways of the River Nun at about 2am on Monday and invaded the residence of 80 year old Mrs Ogere Beauty Siasia, in the Riverine village of Odoni, Sagbama Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

He said the Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State command and the command’s Tactical Team have visited the scene of the crime, stressing that the command in collaboration with other security stakeholders have launched manhunt to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victim.

Family sources said the suspected kidnappers gained entrance to the house of the mother of the former National Under 23 team coach by breaking the back door to gain access into the building.

This is the second time she will be abducted by unknown men. In November 2015, Mrs. Siasia was kidnapped for 13 days and released after a ransom of about N600,000 was reportedly paid.

Mr Siasia was then in Gambia preparing the Olympic Eagles for the Under-23 Africa qualifier for 2016 Rio Olympic at the time of the incident.

Kidnap activities have increased around the Agbere and Odoni axis of Sagbama with many abductions of aged parents of high profile individuals and natives recorded in recent times.
