The attention of Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, has been drawn to a story carried by Vanguard newspaper in its edition of 7th July, 2018 that a coalition of forty political parties has agreed to work together to present a single candidate to confront and defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019
general elections.

Among the parties listed in the coalition, according to the Vanguard story, is Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM.

2. We would like to draw the attention of Vanguard newspaper and the general public that PDM is not part of any coalition of political parties and not part of any arrangement to work with a group of political parties for the purpose of 2019 general elections.

PDM has never attended any meeting at which such a coalition was discussed, let alone be part of it. The story carried by Vanguard is unfounded and must be part of a grand design to deceive the voting public.

3. PDM is not a party of desperate people whose only objective is to capture power for its own sake. Our party has its own aims and objectives and these are not compatible with the aims and objectives of the kind of coalition mentioned in the Vanguard report.

We call on the media to always cross check stories with the parties concerned before rushing to press. As the general elections approach, our members and, indeed, the general public are advised to be on the alert and be wary of mercenaries who do not wish our nation well and whose actions are
motivated by pecuniary interests.

Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim
National Chairman
