In commemoration of this year’s Democracy day celebration, the Federal Government on Friday, declared Tuesday, May 29, 2018, as a public holiday.
The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.) made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, in a statement in Abuja on Friday by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr M. Umar.
Dambazau congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and pledged government’s continued dedication to entrenching democracy in the polity.
The minister urged all Nigerians to trust and support the government “in its commitment to building an indivisible, peaceful and greater nation based on the tenets of democracy.”
NNN recalls that the Federal Government had earlier outlined a four-day activity to mark the 2018 Democracy Day, from May 25 to May 29.
