ISWAP, a breakaway faction of Boko haram had threatened to kill the aid worker who Leman was abducted in March, along with two other aide workers, Saifura Khorsa, who was killed on September 16 and Alice Loksha, a nurse working for the United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF).

Meanwhile, Leah Sharibu, who was one of the students abducted from a Dapchi school in February is still being held by the group.
